AOL announced Thursday it was combining a number of its high-profile blogs, such as Engadget into a network. The network is part of AOL’s Platform-A push into online advertising.
The AOL Technology Network includes Switched as the hub. Switch is fed by Engadget. Along with those, the blog rollup also involves TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog), DownloadSquad, Engadget Mobile and Engadget HD. AOL claims the network will be the second-largest technology news publisher.
As part of the new network, Switched and Engadget receive facelifts, including the addition of tabs to other network blogs.
Silicon Alley Insider’s Henry Blodget assigned AOL’s move as a reaction to Tech Crunch’s call for all blogs to combine to create an overwhelming force.
