About
About Professional Blogging News
The main author (unless noted in articles) is Ed Sutherland, a 20-year reporter and long-time technology journalist.
Our Aim
Professional Blogging News aims to be the resource for bloggers who already consider themselves professional or are striving for professionalism, as well as blog readers interested in learning more about the people behind the blogs they visit. We also want to be the conscious of professional blogging, asking the questions left unanswered by blogs and bloggers making headlines. We’ll do that by offering interviews with professional bloggers and persons at the center of efforts to make blogging a real profession.
This means we take a stand. We stand for professional standards. Plumbers, attorneys, journalists all have standards — why not bloggers. We also believe blogging has a chance to be a new form of news-gathering and broadcasting. But the ‘amateur hour’ needs to end. We intend to hold bloggers up to the same scrutiny as other media: print, broadcast or entertainment.
Our Plan
To do that, we have three main focuses: interviews, opinion and news. There is a fourth element, and that is you, our audience. We’ll ask your opinion on questions of the day, as well as help keep us (and professional blogging) honest.
We Aren’t
We aren’t another Web site dispensing tips - there are many fine blogging tip sites, such as DailyBlogTips.com. Likewise, we won’t give advise how to optimize blogs for search engines, or how to best use Google Adsense or other methods for maximizing blog profit or readership. However, we are all about understanding blogging as a profession and the people involved.
